My Platform

Simply put, we need more housing of all types. I will continue to support strategies and policies:

• To create safe spaces for those without homes.
• To provide a wide-range of housing options from low-income to market rate.
• To keep our green spaces abundant through infill housing.

Our parks, trails and open spaces are why many people chose to live, work and recreate in Arcata. I will continue to allocate resources towards the creation and maintenance of parks, trails and open spaces in Arcata. Current projects include:

• Redwood Park upgrades and new pump track.
• Additional trails in the Arcata Community Forest.
• Carlson Park development with river access, a playground and pickle ball courts.
• Dog parks.
• And so many others!

Maintaining and developing solid infrastructure and financial stability are integral to a healthy city. 

I will continue to:

• Work with our TSC (Transportation Safety Committee) to make our streets safer for those using alternative modes of transportation.
• Work with our police department to maintain full staffing and increase alternative responses such as field mental health professionals and Community Ambassadors. 
• Support the City's robust plan for capital improvements including water, sewer, streets and transit.
• Prioritize the creation of an Economic Development Strategic Plan to attract and retain businesses, increase jobs and ensure fiscal security for the City.

Environmental responsibility is a long-standing value in Arcata. I will continue to consider the impacts of each decision I make on our struggling environment. Current Council goals include:

• Moving the City towards an emission free fleet.
• Planning and adapting for sea level rise.
• Supporting the implementation of the county-wide Climate Action Plan. 
• Promoting efficient use of energy and use of renewable energy in our buildings and facilities.
